Gamification Elements in Training

Story-telling

Gamification is the process of adding game like elements to a training to enhance learner appeal by making the training fun and interactive. For example, encompassing the training in a "story"  can allow the learner to immerse themselves within it. Using animated characters keeps the training "light" and appealing to learners.

Avatars

Elements like avatar selection and naming allow the learner to feel connected to the training.

Badges, Points, Activities, and More

Allowing learners to participate in small guided "knowledge check" activities allow them to challenge themselves. Adding points and badges as positive reinforcement allow for learners to feel a sense of accomplishment when completing training. Leaderboards can be used as a great "fun" way for learners to want to engage in more training. Progress bars allow learners to know exactly where they are in the training and how much more must be completed. With proper time management and due dates, learners can segment the learning at their own pace.
